Memories from last winter…

The cold weather is coming in… Being from Texas, it’s hard for me to say that I “love” winter. I don’t like being cold. I miss being able to go swimming in the backyard pool on Christmas. Snow is cool for the first week, but the mud and crud afterward, along with the cloudy skies for 5 or 6 months can be downright depressing…

But somehow cold weather brings people together. Katya, I’m ready to go through another winter with you. Last winter (pictured above) was especially filled with plenty of amazing memories. I’m sure this one will be, too.

4 Sermons (in Ukrainian)

I have had the honor of teaching most of a sermon series in our church over the past month and a half. It was really interesting how it worked out, though. The pastor and I were planning on taking turns; however, every time it was his turn, something came up, and, so far, I have taught every sermon in the series. Unfortunately, they are only in Ukrainian (which is actually a really good thing, because I get to practice preaching in Ukrainian), so you won’t be able to understand them unless you speak the language.

The sermon series is called “Навіщо…”, which can roughly be translated as “Why would you ever want to do that?” The four sermons I’ve taught are: “Why would you ever want to go to church?”, “Why would you ever want to listen to a sermon?”, “Why would you ever want to sing in church?”, and “Why would you ever want to be a Christian?”

Please pray for the preaching ministry in church. Our pastor and I are working hard to get better at it and to bring Christ-centered, inductive teaching to the church.

I wrote a post (it’s the one about disappointment) about how Katya didn’t get her passport and we weren’t able to go to a conference in Croatia this week… God did a miracle! Katya got a text last night that her passport was ready and that we could pick it up this morning. God is good! We’re going! Praise the Lord!

Here’s the funny part, though… They got her last name wrong! We’re going to change it when we get back. We also had to purchase a whole new set of tickets without a refund from the old ones. That hurts a bit, but we’re just glad that we still get to go.

Please, please, please pray for this conference! There have been so many hurdles to get over – God must be planning something HUGE! All we know is that He is good and He has a plan.
