Public Speaking

This weekend, I’m going to a youth conference, where I’ll be speaking about how to make choices in life.  I’m really excited about that.  I feel that one of the gifts that God has given me is teaching.  Please be praying for that part of the ministry God’s given me here.  I teach through a translator.  I’m learning Ukrainian, but it’s going slowly, and I really want to be able to teach in Ukrainian.

Also, since I’ve been here, I’ve been able to hone my public speaking abilities at our English video night.  It’s kinda funny to me that I enjoy it so much.  I was so very shy when I was younger, and I even remember my knees knockin’ a little when I spoke at Horizon Indianapolis (my sending church) about leaving for Ukraine.  I’ve really learned to enjoy it, though.

Please be praying that God will give me the words to speak this weekend and that I will really be able to impact these youth for His kingdom.  I really want to see them grow up strong in the Lord as warriors for Him.  Thanks a lot!

Youth Group Stuff

The youth group has been growing lately.  We’re currently going through Ephesians.  I think I might be able to finish the book before I travel to America.  It’ll be hard to take a 6-week break in the middle of a book if I don’t!  🙂  (Don’t worry – someone else will be teaching for me while I’m in America…)  We’re concentrating on the topic “who we are in Christ.”  That has been a huge blessing to me.

Another thing we’ve been working on with the youth group is a YouTube series called the Lion Kink Chronicles.  It’s been a lot of fun.  It’s really just something we do to hang out and get people together.  If you would like to check it out, please click on the links below.  There are four episodes right now, but we’re planning more.  We’re also thinking of doing another show with more of a Christian theme, but that will probably be in Ukrainian or Russian.

Episode # 1: The Beginning
Episode # 2: The Dreamer
Episode # 3: Unite or Die
Episode # 4: Termination

The Worship Ministry

The worship ministry is doing well.  We’re getting lots of positive feedback just about how we do worship.  They say that our style is not just good, but it’s really different.  I was talking to a friend about it today, and he told me that he really appreciated how we sound good, but there’s never too much of what we do.  He said that you can tell that the focus is always on the worship and not on the worship team.  That was awesome to hear.  Please be praying for us as a team- we need more songs in Russian and Ukrainian, and I need to be able to learn them quickly.  Also, I’m really going to miss playing with them while I’m in America.

If you would like to hear one of the songs that we do, you can check it out on YouTube here.  I translated it from Ukrainian into English so that I could do it in America when I get back.  It’s one of my favorite songs.
